Where You Should Let Your Child On The Internet (blogging)
No commentsBy Mehmet Onatli
You need to be very careful with this age of technology. Children are on the internet at all times of the day and are finding their ways to places they should not be allowed. With online pornography simply a click away, you need to ensure that the security settings are right on your computer. In fact you may want to ensure that you don’t even go to these websites, because it seems like once you do all sorts of adware will pop up for other sites.
Who’s to say that when this happens your child won’t be the one sitting in front of the computer screen, and click yes? It’s not hard for a child to lie about their age, kids today are not stupid and they can figure out easily what year they need to be born in to allow them access to this once forbidden landscape of debauchery. All it takes is a simple date; these sites don’t go and check what else is up with the person who is coming to their site. Hell they don’t even care; they just want those people on their website hopefully purchasing a video or something else.
Ok just because you might have to purchase a video doesn’t mean that once your child has lied about his age that he’s not seeing things that are only intended to be viewed by adult eyes. No in fact as soon as he has hit enter with his or her fake birth date the gates are wide open they will be seeing people unclothed and in acts of well things they just shouldn’t be seeing.
Society today seems to have such a lax viewpoint on different things, that when I was little were a big deal. Sex was discussed on TV let alone for a kid to even know what the heck it was. We didn’t have computers until around age 12. But even so, the internet was not even something that we went on, heck I can’t even tell you the first time I went online, it had to be when I was in my 20’s. But nowadays there are kids on the computer from who knows what age. With all these different social sites out there they sign up on, and chat to people who may be older then they even admit.
We’ve all seen those 48 hour episodes where these older men sit there and hit on a girl who they think is a teen. They even drive to the girl’s house to meet her, some bringing alcohol. What the hell is wrong with our society when these men do this, and some don’t even seem to be upset about being caught? Are we so corrupt and unmoral?
No we just need to make sure as parents that we are watching what our kids do on the computer and setting the security settings so they can’t get on someplace they shouldn’t be. In fact just try and stay off those sites yourself, it will be amazing how much of a difference it will make in raising your child.

Is Generating Free Traffic All It’s Cracked Up to Be?
By Eugene Ye
For beginners in the internet marketing industry, generating free traffic is a really appealing concept. There is almost no start up cost to making a living online and that is an excellent perk to running an online business.
Yes, you can promote your website for free, but then why do so many people prefer to pay for their traffic?
One of the huge, negative downsides to free traffic is that it often requires a lot of time. You have to set up different accounts under various services, create content, make value, submit links to social bookmarking sites and so much more. It can take so much time it ends up not even being worth it in the end for some people.
If you are a beginner and literally do not have a dollar to your name it makes sense to invest your time and create free traffic. If you have a twenty dollar bill in your pocket and you can afford it, drive your traffic with that cash!
Cost per click programs can be set up in a few minutes and start driving traffic in no time. You will want to make sure you have some idea on how to operate the service you are paying for and know the best ways to optimize your ads so you get the most out of your money.
Never just set up an advertising campaign with a twenty dollar budget and leave it alone. You will be throwing out your money. Always keep track of your ads and optimize them the best you can.
However, if you are a beginner to internet marketing and do not have the money to spare you should do everything you can to generate free traffic. Set up Squidoo pages and add great content that is informative and well written (make sure to link keywords in your pages back to your site to generate good backlinks!), make a MySpace page and start adding friends, go on Yahoo! Answers and respond to questions with links back to your site.
There are so many ways to generate free traffic you can stay occupied for weeks at a time doing this.
As previously mentioned the only cost any of this will amount to is your time. If you have a few hours a day you can really hammer out a lot of good stuff do it! You can drive free traffic if you have the time and many people do not so they opt to pay for their traffic.
No matter what you decide to do you should always choose the best way to generate your traffic. Never spend money you do not have unless you really can afford it. You would be much better off just spending your free time generating free traffic instead.
If you feel overwhelmed by the prospect of trying to create free traffic by setting up tons of accounts then do not worry. Simply get a good guide or lesson on creating free traffic with a good service (Yahoo! Answers, MySpace, etc.) and become a MASTER at it.
In conclusion, get really good at generating traffic with one service and then move onto the next while applying things you learned along the way. This will prevent you from becoming overwhelmed.

Are There Any Negative Aspects of RSS Feeds?
By Terry Leslie
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication which basically means that the information passed through the feed may or may not be directly accessed from the originating website. Joe’s website might send a feed they acquired from Fred’s site, and vice verse.
RSS is a great way to get the latest, up to the minute information on almost any subject available. If you are a news hound, enrolled in additional education, or are trying to find out the American Idol results as they come in, RSS feeds might benefit you. The feeds often eliminate or reduce the need for web surfing, especially if you are a limited surfer and are connected to your interests and needs through the feeds.
As awesome as many online communities believe the RSS feed is, there are a few drawbacks and negative aspects to relying completely on the feed to communicate. While technological advancement is likely to address most of the issues related to the negative aspects of the RSS feed, it will take some time before all the issues are addressed.
RSS feeds do not clearly identify the source. Especially for those who use script protection and identifying software as standard protection on their computers, feeds can be anonymous and lead to confusion for those with heavy security on their computers.
The graphics, photos, and other visually stimulating elements of web pages do not come through with any real resolution. Some people find themselves visiting the website regularly because they can not see the images on their feeds at all.
Servers can become overloaded. There is a high demand right now for RSS feeds that the servers were simply not prepared for. It is thought that no one really expected there to be such a surge of popularity among the feeds and thus the servers were not built accordingly.
There is no way for advertisers or publishers to track their subscription base. Therefore, the feedback that is often available through websites and thus advertisers and providers have no way of evaluate the quality of their product or service through the public’s eyes.
General technical support is fairly poor. New technology that isn’t carried across the board can have limited access to any kind of support services.
RSS feeds are continuing to grow in popularity and thus many of the negative aspects may be taken care of within the next few years. Of course, this may produce a whole new set of issues, but dedicated RSS users feel it is worth the wait, and the issues.
